Norfolk County OPP are investigating two separate instances of vehicles being stolen from driveways.

A locked SUV was removed from a Concession 6 Townsend property in the early hours of August 13. The vehicle is described as a black coloured 2012 Ford Edge.

In Delhi, a vehicle was stolen from a driveway on Second Avenue on Aug.12. The keys were left inside of the vehicle.

Police say this incident occurred between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m.

The vehicle is a grey coloured 2006 Honda Civic.

Police provided a list of steps to avoid car thefts:

  • Do not leave your keys in your vehicle.
  • Do not leave your vehicle running.
  • Lock your vehicle.
  • Treat your keys like cash – Don’t leave keys in places where they are easy to steal such as a gym locker, on your desk at work, in an open purse or unattended in a shopping cart.
  • Never leave anything in your vehicle in plain view such as loose change, cell phones, cameras, clothing, gifts, cigarettes, medication, firearms or any other valuables.
  • Install a remote car starter – Remote starters are designed to shut off if anyone attempts to drive the vehicle without a key. This will allow you to warm up your vehicle.
